Who Am I ?

I'm a daughter, a sister, wife, a mum, an aunt, a sister-in-law, a grand-daughter, a cousin, a niece, a friend, a colleague, an acquaintance, an employee, NHS Sister, paediatric nurse, Chartered Manager, student, preceptor, BSc (Hons), mental health first aider, first aider.

Throughout life with obtain various roles in our life as we grow up in family life, cultural backgrounds, develop personal interests, enter the world of employment and social connections, and may obtain various achievements. These are roles we acquire or are placed upon us within the world. This is how we are perceived in the world by worldly people.

My Identity?

Recently I was asked to reflect on my identity in Christ. Do I know whom I am in Christ? We go about life developing whom we are, building personal resilience on lives lessons and experiences as we go about our daily lives. We obtain our roles, but who are we in Christ ? As a  Christian having an identity in Christ means finding sense of self worth, purpose, and value in Jesus as a beloved child of God, rather than external factors of accomplishments, status or achievements.

My Identity In Christ

Recently health issues have affected my life, and have lead to me reflecting on my roles in life and what is God's purpose for me? What does God want for me in this time as I take time out from the working life treadmill. From the age of eighteen my life embarked on the paediatric nursing pathway with the calling that this would take me to work with children in  Burundi, Africa. I knew whom I wanted to partner with in this venture and it was just a matter of timing. In 2004 I married and family life followed. In 2023 I finally had the opportunity to go to Africa, Uganda, a life times dream to see some charities in action and experience African life. Amid this experience God let me meet a person whom worked where I had wanted to be at the the exact time I chose to marry my husband. God showed me what could have happened to me as she shared her experiences and that His timing and plans were as they were meant to be, I had been protected. God is opening doors, I do not know what the future holds but trust God still has a purpose and a plan for my future. In the mean time I am learning new skills, to blog, to rest, who I am in Christ and I'm sure God still has more being I have more time at home.

Value In Christ

Recognising your worth is not based on achievements or circumstances but God's unconditional love and sacrifice of His son Jesus for you. His sacrifice demonstrates the immense value God places on you, offering salvation and and relationship to God. Knowing you are loved and accepted a s a child of God allows you to live a life in peace and of purpose.
